Pornography – depiction of (human) sexual activity, common but socially contentious in most cultures; etymologically traceable to Greek πόρνος (pórnos) fornicators and γράφειν (gráphein) writing.
The ambivalence of being both the most revered and most hunted creatures in the known universe must be confounding. Human females, representing more than half of earth’s dominant species, are a mystery to every male – captivating marvels, wells of endless joy, sources of deep despair. Owing existence itself to a mother, no man ever experienced life without a woman’s touch, kindness, longing, anger, affection, rejection, desires, fears, hopes, dreams, or unique perspectives shaping its very core.
However … humanity’s explosive growth might be predominantly attributable to institutionalized rape or related expressions of unleashed male excess. Caged in their own bodies by the colossal strains of perpetual childbirth, endless generations of women were easily subjugated and dominated, potentials diminished by repression or resentment, barred from cultural participation and living in freedom.
Loved, admired, abused, excluded – 200.000 years passed in colorful variety, but no past or present community ever archived an egalitarian coexistence of all its members in mutual harmony. Aggression and segregation abound at the precipice of an existential need for unity. Thus, Pornography – hyperreality manifested as cybernetical control system to contain the societal (heterosexual) male self’s morally-incompatible paleolithical desires in isolated bursts of barely-satisfactory tranquil – infinitely accessible, devoid of esprit and warmth.
Why exploit and fetishize true beauty, if alternate solutions are conceivable? Consider propagating playfulness, consent or passion instead of egomania, degradation or violence. Learn to accept the clumsy reality of messy life over mimicking unattainable ideals. Negotiate the myriad details of operational equality; scope required compromises. Reflect on historical developments, from religious family structures to traditional role divisions. Transcend futile attempts to haphazardly control animalistic urges via inadequate (but overwhelmingly powerful) technology. Find somebody to love and have fun, together. Compound strengths and weaknesses; strive to honestly communicate strange dreams, weird ideas and exciting fantasies. Celebrate every wonderful mystery and fascinating contrast. Escape control and seek truth through collaborative experimentation or curious discovery. Aspire vibrant vitality by mastering the infinite exuberance of shared deep intimacy. Endure and adore each other.
